“Keep Ithaca always in your mind.
Arriving there is what you are destined for.”
(K. P. Kavafis, Greek Poet)
The Personal Development and Self-Awareness Centre, GIA TIN ITHAKI (English translation “To Ithaca”), is a modern psychotherapeutic and counselling centre and consists of a team of professional associates with various mental health specialties. Each associate of our centre specializes in more than one mental health field as shown in her resume (e.g., specialization in psychology and basic psychotherapy approaches). Each associate works with her own clients and referrals are based on her availability, her specialization and always according to the issue that concerns the client.
Some of the basic psychotherapeutic approaches used at our centre are Client-Centred, Systemic, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Dialectic-Behavioural Therapy, EMDR Trauma Therapy, and Play Therapy, amongst others. Also included among the counselling services of our centre are Career Guidance, Life Coaching, NLP coaching (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), Mindfulness, Autogenic Relaxation Training and Pain Management.
Mental health services (assessment, diagnosis, psycho-education, counselling / treatment and prevention) as well as the other pioneering programs we offer at our Centre are targeted towards adults, couples, parents, children and adolescents.
The counselling and psychotherapeutic centre GIA TIN ITHAKI is located in the centre of Limassol near the courthouse roundabout (or Saint Nicholas Area roundabout). We also offer online therapy through Skype sessions as an alternative for students, people living abroad, or when necessary.
It is obvious that we did not randomly choose the name GIA TIN ITHAKI for our counselling and psychotherapy centre. According to Greek mythology, Odysseus, while returning to his home in Ithaca, had to overcome formidable obstacles which also helped him acquire great knowledge and skills. Here the therapeutic process is compared to a journey, the journey to our own Ithaca that is no other than self-awareness. Self-awareness in turn leads us to self-actualisation where ultimately we can find the mental relief and inner peace we desire.
